This is a live example of a site built with crofty: you write Markdown, crofty renders a plain static site and deploys it to a domain and accounts you control. No platform in the middle, nothing to lock you in — and you can walk away to plain Hugo whenever you like.

The posts below are just Markdown files in a folder. That’s the whole site.

Writing

  • The exit is a feature

A site you can leave at any moment is a site worth staying on.

  • Images and figures

How pictures, captions, and inline images render from plain Markdown.

  • A folder of text

Everything I publish here begins as a plain folder of Markdown files on my own disk.

  • Embedding video

Self-hosted video and platform embeds, both from Markdown.

  • Writing in the open

Publishing a half-formed thought in public changes how carefully I think it through.

  • External snippets that paste in

Gists, CodePen, social embeds, and iframes — the copy-paste HTML the web hands you.
